DIY Decoupage a Halloween Pumpkin with Book Pages – Preferably Spooky Ones

We’re really not into DIY projects but this time of year just brings out the creativity in us. Our newest endeavor? Decoupaging a pumpkin with book pages from an Edgar Allan Poe book. Here’s the process (scroll down for the materials needed and directions):

Pumpkins decoupaged with pages from Edgar Allan Poe book.

Materials needed:

  • book pages – preferably from a scary or Halloween worthy book
  • Mod Podge
  • paint brushes
  • craft pumpkins (we bought ours for $1 each from Michael’s craft store) or real pumpkins (we bought the mini ones from Trader Joes for 69 cents)
  • paint for the stem
  • ribbon for the stem

Directions:

Find a book you don’t mind tearing the pages out of. We used “Tales of Mystery and Terror” by Edgar Allan Poe.

Tear out pages to use for decoupaging.

Cut book pages into thin vertical slices.

Paint the surface of the pumpkin and the back of the piece of book page with Mod Podge. Modge Podge can be purchased from your local craft store.

Finish decoupaging the pumpkin. Let it dry.

Paint the stem orange, black or any color you’d like. You can also add a ribbon.
